Although there is a summary page at the beginning describing what has come before… new readers should avoid this issue as it is the culminating conclusion to the current story arc. Star Wars: The High Republic #8 is worth the price of admission for those who are currently reading this series, but it’s not for new readers. Writer Cavan Scott has been doing a nice job on this series and is also currently writing a Star Wars: High Republic Adventures mini-series for IDW Publishing called Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – The Monster of Temple Peak that is worth checking out. Also, the mention of the problem with the “Republic Fair” on the final pages is a nice set-up cliffhanger for next month’s new arc. This issue is all about action, and it wraps up the story arc very nicely. The last issue really focused on the development of Keeve Trennis as she struggled to come to grips with the darkness within her. There’s not a lot of character development here, but in this reviewer’s opinion – that’s ok. Although there were no huge surprises and things basically played out the way I thought they would, it was still a good story with visuals by Ario Anindito that enhanced the overall battle scenes. It was cool seeing the Hutts and Jedi work together, and at the same time disagree on how they were going to defeat the Drengir. It brings the current story arc to the action-packed conclusion readers have been waiting for. Star Wars: The High Republic #8 is an enjoyable issue for readers who have been following this series. Can the Jedi and Hutts put their differences aside and work together to defeat the Drengir? Can Keeve Trennis & Orla Jareni arrive in time to help the alliance? What’s going on with Marshal Kriss? Will her bonding with the Progenitor be too much for the Hutt Alliance to overcome? These are all questions that are answered in this issue! OVERALL THOUGHTS Star Wars: The High Republic #8 written by Cavan Scott with art by Ario Anindito is the climactic battle conclusion between the Jedi-Hutt alliance and the Drengir.
